The twelfth edition of EnergyVision Genk Loopt & Wandelt will take place on Sunday. 4,500 runners and walkers have registered, equalling last year’s record. Online registration is open until midnight on Saturday, but latecomers can also register on Sunday and lace up their running or walking shoes.

Participants can choose from four different distances, which can be run or walked: 3 km, 5 km, 10 km and 10 miles. The most popular distance among runners has long been the 5 km, although the 10 km and 10 miles are not far behind. Among walkers, the 10 km is the most popular. For the youngest runners, there is the Persil Kids Run on Sunday with a 1 km course, and for the little ones, there is a 360-metre gnome run.

All distances start at Europlaan and end at Stadsplein, in the heart of Genk. From the 3 km mark, all routes also pass through Molenvijverpark, and participants in the 10-mile race can look forward to an extended passage through Kattevennen, one of the gateways to the Hoge Kempen National Park.

EnergyVision Genk Loopt & Wandelt, one of Limburg’s largest sporting events, is organised by Limburg sports company Golazo, the City of Genk and Ziekenhuis Oost-Limburg (ZOL).

ZOL will be on standby on Sunday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. with accessible health screenings. The offer consists of an electrocardiogram (ECG), a cholesterol measurement and a test to detect cardiac arrhythmias. Advance registration for the tests is mandatory and can be done using this form, which can also be found on the ZOL and EnergyVision Genk Loopt & Wandelt websites. The cost is 5 euros, which will go entirely to De Warmste Week.

Kathleen Parthoens, Alderman for Sport: “Genk Loopt & Wandelt 2025 is more than just an event; it is a call to all Genk residents to get active together and enjoy our beautiful city. By walking and running, we are taking an important step towards a healthier future. This year, we want to inspire more than 4,500 participants to embrace the importance of sufficient exercise and enjoy a day of sport together.”

Maarten Michielssens, CEO of EnergyVision: ‘Running is the most accessible sport there is, and that is exactly what EnergyVision does with sustainable energy: making it accessible to everyone. As an energy company with a passion for athletics and our customers, we are proud partners of the Running Tour and Genk Loopt, and we support athletes in what gives them energy.’

EnergVision Genk Loopt is the second leg of the EnergyVision Running Tour 2025, which brings together eight of Belgium’s most beautiful and enjoyable street runs. After the opener in Knokke-Heist (1 May) and Genk Loopt & Wandelt (4 May), you can also lace up your running shoes in Bruges (11 May), Ghent (18 May), Namur (14 September), Nivelles (21 September), Mechelen (28 September) and Hasselt (12 October).
